What a glorious weekend... I had an afternoon session on Saturday... a "girls open house" on Sunday... and today... I ran. After that... I did absolutely nothing but eat and watch t.v... these kinds of days are rare... but when they do happen... I just love it. I hope you all had the same kind of weekend.
I am getting caught up though... and most of you will have your galleries up by tomorrow or the next day. Here are just a few of my favorites from my afternoon session last Monday...
It is so pretty at Wildwood right now... I've been making my clients climb over poison oak / ivy and sit while bumble bees buzz around them. As you can see... it is so worth it.
Getting some shut eye... more coming tomorrow...
A funny thing happened today... I went to Walmart to get a couple of 4x6's printed for Maddox's preschool teachers (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THESE WOMEN)... As you all know... I don't care where you get 4x6's printed... I only care when it's anything bigger :) In any event... the lady at Walmart wouldn't let me purchase my BIG ORDER OF (3) 4x6's until I could prove I was the photographer... Fortunately I had one dirty, crumpled up business card in my wallet... Well, even that wasn't enough... I then had to fill out paperwork. Too funny huh... (well, it wasn't funny at the time... I was in a big time hurry)...
I am way behind on posting... I've been having some major problems with my blog... even now... I've tried posting these all day... the company has made some changes and I am trying to figure out how everything works...
These are a few of my favorites from one of my mini sessions this past Monday... (click to see each picture)
Gotta love these "rainbow socks"...
More to come...
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS GIRL...
Meet "K"... my girl Senior Rep... she came out with me in the cold rain and wind on Sunday and didn't complain a bit. She did one thing that I think I am going to advise all future senior clients... she went to MAC at Macy's and had her make-up done beforehand. Her eyes pop in these photos and her skin looks flawless. LOVE IT!!!
Side note... I tried to get a studio to work on some studio shots... but never got a call back. Luckily... down in my favorite alleyway... there was a white painted wall and a dark brown dumpster... works for me :)
Okay... so I've wanted to post this picture for awhile... but I wasn't sure if it was appropriate given that while it's tasteful... Grayson isn't wearing any clothes. I was stalking one of my favorite photographer's blog today and saw that she posted a tasteful "nude" of her 2 year old daughter... so I feel like I've got a "thumbs" up to go ahead and share it.
Gray crashed one of my showers a couple of weeks back (okay... he crashes every shower I take now... I mean... the kid can hear the water running even if he's on the other side of the house with a door closed)... so, during our shower, he told me he wanted some "orange" ice cream when he was clean. "Okay"... I said. So, I opened the door and proceeded with my post-shower rituals and Grayson disappeared. About 5 minutes later... I just about stepped into the kitchen when I saw this... clearly he didn't waste anytime getting into the freezer and pulling out the ice cream. Fortunately my camera was downstairs... and just as he was sticking the large "salad" spoon into the container... I yelled "Grayson" and snapped the picture... this one was printed "BIG" as well... LOVE IT...
Some from my "Senior Rep" sessions coming up in a bit...
Just wanted to share this picture of my beautiful boy... taken in the bathtub of all places (light coming from an opposing window) with a white sheet held behind him... (inspired by a new book I picked up... Portraits from the Gap Collection... this book ROCKS with photographers like Annie Leibovitz, Herb Ritts, Steven Meisel, Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Michael Jansson, Michael Thompson, and Albert Watson)... Anyway... as you know... I don't do studio (although I might attempt it one of these days... but with natural light)... but I thought this would be fun to try...
Do you remember the age when you got excited about "giving presents"? Zoe is at that age... and let me tell you... she went all out for Mother's Day. And it took everything in me not to be a total dork in her eyes and bawl like a baby. A week ago we were at a neighborhood garage sale (gotta love "springtime" garage sales)... and I was instructed to go to the car and "wait" for her. I told her not to waste her "birthday" money there... but she insisted. After about 15 minutes... Zoe got back in the car... with a bag... I rolled my eyes a bit... annoyed... but I let it go.
Then... this past Saturday night... at 11:00 p.m... she was skittering about the house... There was cutting and taping and rustling.. and very large messes were being made in different rooms... "ZOE... WHAT ARE YOU DOING?... IT'S 11:00 O'CLOCK... GO TO BED!!!"
Well... the child that is never up until after 10:00 a.m. on the weekends was bounding out of bed at 7:45 a.m. yesterday morning. "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY" she yelled... bag and card in hand... the look on her face... well... that is where it took everything just to keep it together. She was so excited...
Well, the things that were bought "with her own money" at the garage sale are now things that I will cherish for a lifetime... and the excitement on her face... I will never forget it.
Other gifts... my beautiful jill e camera bag... I LOVE THIS BAG!!!
And a much needed new pair of running shoes...
We have a tradition on Mother's Day... every year we go to the Village Inn (instead of a formal brunch)... and then we head over to Creques' to purchase flowers for the summer. But as you can see... the WEATHER SUCKED BIG TIME... so, we came home... and I tortured everyone with "27 Dresses"...
It was one of the longest days I've had... I guess because all I did was sit, eat and do nothing.
IT WAS A LOVELY, LOVELY DAY!!!
I hope all of my moms... especially my "first time moms".. had a wonderful Mother's Day!!!
