Haven't posted a dang thing...

Nope... haven't posted a dang thing in a while... lots of things happening here on this end during my little break...

Didn't go home this Christmas... and just wanted to say I am missing these people big time right now...

 

Brother-in-law Mike (although he's been around since I was 18... so he's really like my brother), my niece Mickee (who just turned 16... and is now driving... YIKES... I have a picture in my room of me holding her minutes after she was born), Mom, Dad and beautiful younger sister Karin)...

Miss you... love you.  (Can you all tell I'm homesick?) 

Just another "freakshow"moment at Meijers...

Did not have even a speck of food in the house this morning... no milk, no apple juice, no cereal, no nothing.  And to top it off... I was responsible for bringing in "Christmas snack" for both Maddox and Grayson's classes (how the heck did that happen).

In any event... Gray chose pink and green frosted cookies for his snack.  As I started to unload the groceries from my cart... Grayson was set on keeping those cookies with him.  He wasn't being loud... just being quietly unreasonable about letting the checker check them.  (And let me preface this... we weren't holding up the line... there were still a ton of groceries that needed to be checked).  In the midst of me trying to "reason" with him... the elderly lady standing behind us came up and grabbed the cookies from Grayson and put them on the belt.  I was a bit taken aback... and all I could think of was the SCREAM that was coming.  I looked at Grayson... saw the deep breath... the fists clenched... the nose scrunched.  And then it came out...

MOMMY!!!!!  I HAAAAATE THAT GRANDMA!!!!

The checker looked at me and I burst out laughing.  TERRIBLE I KNOW... BUT IT WAS REALLY FUNNY.  I avoided making eye contact with the elderly lady behind me... mostly because Grayson was making plenty of it with her as he continued to express his dislike for her.

Just another day feeling like a total freak...

Zoe, Maddox and the Christmas tree...

Every year is the same... with the exception that I no longer have toddlers that want to pull off ornaments (or the whole tree down for that matter) every minute of the day.

I put the lights up... and the kiddos went to town... Zoe and Maddox that is (Gray chose to spend time in the warm bath... the real bath... not the kitchen sink :)

To understand why these images mean so much to me... you'd have to understand the relationship between Zoe and Maddox... LOVE / HATE.  I am not sure why... Zoe occasionally gets jealous of Maddox... and Maddox idolizes Zoe.  Every now and then... they are completely in sync... and tonight was one of those glorious times...

 

Now... I get e-mails from clients saying that the images I take of their children make them cry... well... I made myself cry tonight.  Completely unprovoked... I caught this after Zoe helped Maddox place an ornament high on the tree... I'm still teary eyed...

   

AHHHHH... the spirit of Christmas... summed up in one image.

Finally, I love this one of Zoe... she is a feisty girl... but tonight... completely serene...

Favorite Family...

My list has grown immensely this year... as far as FAVORITE FAMILIES go!!!  I really am so, so, so lucky to have formed the relationships I have with my clients (who truly feel like friends).  This family first came to my Halloween special last year...

and then I photographed them again this past Spring.

Due to inclement weather over the past month... we've had to cancel and reschedule.  Well... we've pushed it now... today was really the last day... and it was dark and gloomy... but you'd never know it.

This little smoopie just lights up everything and everyone around him...

High School Sweethearts...

I photograph a lot of parents who were "high school sweethearts"... married 15... 20 years later... I think of the commitment and the work involved... and I am always left in awe...

These kiddos... high school sweethearts... got married in September... ahhhh... young love... do you remember your high school sweetheart?

I was just finishing these up this morning and wasn't sure how they didn't make the blog the other day.. indeed they too are favorites...  this session was a bit tricky in that there wasn't a ton of light in their house... so I had to find it...

SCOOTS... SIMPLY ADORABLE...

Yesterday... in between my two sessions... I headed over to SCOOTS in Perrysburg to photograph the inside of the store.  I have to say... I was so impressed.  It's an itty bitty space... but full of fun and color.  Very touchable and kid-friendly.  I think what suprised me the most was the pricing... VERY, VERY AFFORDABLE... especially considering the selection is something you'd find in an upscale New York boutique.  If you haven't been over there... GO TODAY AND TAKE A PEAK.  YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!  The first person to buy a pair of boots before Friday will receive $50.00 off a Spring 2009 Mini Session.
