Well... my baby turned "6" yesterday. No tears... just felt raw awe... awe of this little boy who is turning into a little man. No more tantrums in Meijers... no more high pitched screams at Max & Ermas... no more Batman (okay... that brings a few tears). Nope... he is such a joy in my life. I am happy to say that he is still small enough to carry when I'm walking through a parking lot... and that he is always the first one in my bed every morning (5:45 a.m. on the dot). He is the most vocal in our little family... we always know exactly how he's feeling or what he's thinking. His best friend at school is a little boy named Ben... This is the last year that I have him home 1/2 day... next year... everyone is in school all day. He is happiest at 11:40 when I pick him up... he knows he gets another couple of hours of "mommy" time. Sometimes we head over to our favorite bagel place to say hi to his "buddy" Alex (he works there and always makes a big deal about the boys)... other times... if he's had a good "work" week at school... we head to Target and get him a small package of Legos. Most days we head home... make a turkey sandwich and he plays with Legos while I work. Or... he goes up into my room and falls asleep (he's totally growing right now). Gray's Kindergarten teacher says that in the 30+ years that she's been a teacher, Gray is one of the "sweetest" boys she's ever taught... but also one of the most stubborn :) Not surprising... but he knows better than to cross her. He tells me daily that he'd rather go to "basketball camp" than school... but then he tells me a lot of things like that. Gray can get stung by a wasp 3x in the head and doesn't shed a tear... but not getting a "hand stamp" for "listening" at school will reduce him to tears. He wants to know why the sky is blue, why spiders have 8 legs, why it rains only on the weekends, why Darth Vadar became bad after the lava incident... needless to say... we "GOOGLE" a lot so I can give him the answers :)
This past year... Gray proclaimed that he was "collecting" stuffed animals. I suspect that it's because he really wants something of his "own" to love...
And so... when I surprised him yesterday with a trip to the pet store... you can imagine how I felt when we walked out and he said he loved "Jimmy" the same way he loves me...
Meet Jimmy... the one that clearly made Gray the happiest he's ever been in his entire life :)
NEW FAVORITE ALL-TIME PICTURE OF GRAY...
