School Programs...

Well... my kiddos had another amazing year with wonderful, loving teachers.  Gray had Mrs. Seifert... she taught Maddox last year.  And Maddox had Mr. Grimm... I can't say enough good things about him... he pushed and encouraged Maddox every day and gave Maddox amazing confidence.  He was such a positive male role model.  With regard to teachers... I have to say ALL of my children have been blessed with loving, caring, dynamic teachers that date back to preschool years.  

With amazing teachers... we had unbelievable school programs with both boys.  The end of the year Kindergarten program brought tears to everyone in the audience... 5 and 6 year olds signing (sign language) and singing "It's a Wonderful World"... Gray learned many words this year in sign language and seems to have a knack for it.  He was his usual funny self... insisting on a button down and tie and of course... his spy "Batman" sunglasses (he now wants to be a spy...).

 
Uh... and yes... I tied the tie.  :)  My dad was in France... so I went on YouTube and found a tutorial on "how to tie a tie"... :)  LOVE YOUTUBE :)

I was equally impressed with Maddox's program... I'm not sure how Mr. Grimm arranged this... but every child played a different part over a 4 day period.  There was narrating, lighting responsibilities, sound responsibilities (music), lines to learn, singing and dancing.  Mr. Grimm was completely hands off and the kids did everything... and they are only in first grade.  Seriously impressed!!!

happythankyoumoreplease... GO WATCH IT :)

 If you know me... I love independent films... my last favorite was Jane Eyre.  Yesterday I came across Josh Radnor's "happythankyoumoreplease"... LOOOOOOOVED IT...

I wrote my favorite scene down... it's something we all should have (men and women alike) in our relationships...

"Close your eyes… I just want you to listen to me… humor me please...

It's not easy to be adored... You in particular... you have tougher time with it than most.  I get that.  But I want you to give it a try.  Think of it as an experiment.  I promise I will be very wonderful at adoring you Annie.  It’s an area where I think I’ve got a great deal of talent...

 (sigh... LOVE IT)... What made me love this dorky guy so much is that earlier in the movie... he photographs her.  Later... after she's hurt by an ex-boyfriend... she finds the images he left for her on her desk at work.  And it's clear from the photographs that he really "see's" her (sigh... LOVE IT EVEN MORE :) :) :)

Okay... one more sopping scene that I love... and advice I am willing to take :)

Summer 2011 / July Sessions

Summer... it's finally here.  Two months off from getting up early, making breakfast, making lunches, yelling at the kiddos, "GETTTTTTTT UP NOWWWWWWW!!!" :) :) :)

I am sitting at our hotel in Palm Springs... watching Animal Planet with the boys... waiting for Zoe and her friend Megan to get done primping (3 months ago we were able to get out the door with no primping... now at 13... UGGGGH... hours to get out the door with make-up and decisions of what to wear :)  Thought I would get a few favorites posted from today :)

The kiddos and I love it here... it's so peaceful.  I've had my phone off all day and for the first time in awhile... I just sat... no picking up from school, no yearbook (that's a separate post coming :), no homework... I finished the book THE HELP (if you don't have it... go get it... LOVED IT... can't wait to see it in August).  Then I flipped through Vanity Fair and In Style (my client and friend Beth Doane's Raintees were in there... under FAVORITE T-SHIRTS... LOVE IT... LOVE HER!!! .  I was just plain LAAAAAAZY... I needed it. 

But it didn't last long... I sat and revised my business plan (that includes working with a former photography agent over the next few weeks). VERY EXCITED ABOUT WHAT'S TO COME.  Over the past few weeks I've created a few brochures... including one for 50 & Under Weddings.  I will share it soon in a post.  I loved the last wedding I shot... small, intimate and loving... and really... I've come to find it's my kind of thing.  I'm a hopeless romantic and believe in LOVE :)  As Carrie says in the last episode in Sex in the City...  "I'm looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can't-live-without-each-other love."  And who doesn't want to photograph that... I certainly do :) 

I am also divorcing my blackberry and getting an IPhone on Friday... I butt dial everyone... it's embarassing... poor Allyson (the boys' Ohio babysitter and Zoe's swim coach).  I think I've butt dialed her the most over the past 2 years.  She's always very kind about it... even the ones that happen at 2:00 a.m. her time.  UGGGH.  Also... the new IPhone takes great pics and video... it's time to move on :)

Chicago Smoochies... and booking for Summer :)

I saw these little men a year ago in Laguna... it was soooo good to see them again.  It truly touches my heart to see how they grow...

The weather did what it did the entire time I was in Ohio... RAINED.   But my clients... all of them... just went with it and let me do my thing... which was amazing.

2011 Wedding...

I say I don't do weddings... and then it seems that I do one once a year.  :)  I loved this wedding... everything about it.  Single mom with 3 boys met a man who fell in love at first sight.  He pursued her for a couple of years... and now they are sharing their lives with each other.  Their story gives me hope... :)

As a mom of 2 boys... I loved her boys.  We hung out before the wedding... which truly is always my favorite time.  Mom was totally cool and collected... even when hair and make-up got lost and didn't arrive until 1/2 hour before the ceremony.  TOTALLY COOL... which is why I loved her... and her sister... and her niece... and her groom... and the groom's parents... and I loved the groom's relationship with the "boys"... I JUST LOVED THIS WEDDING... and I haven't even gotten to the ceremony and the words shared there...

Justifiably... I tend to be a bit cynical of weddings... but truly... this wedding changed me a wee bit (emphasis on "wee" :) :)

Senior Session in the rain... :)

Okay... so this weekend about killed me... it rained, and rained, and rained... oh... and rained :)  And it was freezing...

Despite the inclement weather... Miss "B" was ready... and it pretty much drizzled the entire shoot (note:  I did offer to reschedule... but she wanted to go ahead with the session :)  I'm so glad we did...

I photographed her sister last Fall... both are beautiful, beautiful girls... I jumped in their mom's car and away we went... trespassed pretty much the entire time :)  LOVE IT!!!

Miss "E"...

Love, love, love this little one... she is stubborn and funny and always knows exactly what she wants to do when she wants to do it.  I always joke with her mom that she has been one of my "challenging" kiddos to photograph.  Well... she's moved out of the "challenging" box... into the "easy to photograph" category.  She did exactly what I asked her to do today... despite a constant "drizzle" (UGGGGH... what a weekend of rain :).
